Job Description: Workday Financials Administrator

 

The Workday Financials Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day configuration, support, maintenance, and optimization of the Workday Financials system. This role serves as a subject matter expert and technical liaison between the Finance, IT, HRIS, and Business Operations teams, ensuring the system aligns with business processes and delivers accurate, timely financial data. The administrator will lead configuration changes, integrations, testing, and reporting within Workday, and will play a key role in projects involving enhancements, updates, or new module implementations.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Duties and Responsibilities

System Administration & Configuration

  • Serve as the primary administrator for all Workday Financials modules including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Procurement, Expenses, Banking, Projects, and Financial Reporting.

  • Perform configuration updates, including creation of custom validations, condition rules, business process changes, and security group management.

  • Maintain and enhance custom reports, calculated fields, dashboards, and Worklets.

  • Conduct regular data integrity checks and ensure audit compliance within the system.

End-User Support & Training

  • Provide expert-level user support to the Finance, and related teams.

  • Troubleshoot system issues, coordinate resolutions with Workday support and third-party vendors as needed.

  • Develop and maintain training materials and documentation.

  • Train end-users on system functionality, reporting tools, and best practices.

Change Management & Project Work

  • Lead or participate in Workday Financials enhancement projects, including implementations of new modules, upgrades, and system optimizations.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with HRIS, Finance, and IT to support integrations, enterprise reporting, and shared data structures.

  • Test and validate system changes, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

Security & Compliance

  • Manage and audit Workday security roles and permissions for financial users.

  • Ensure internal controls, SOX compliance, and segregation of duties are enforced within the system.

  • Support audits by providing reports and system data upon request.

Process Improvement & Optimization

  • Identify opportunities for workflow automation, process simplification, and user experience improvements.

  • Leverage Workday Community and user forums to stay current on features and best practices and have the ability to manage Workday updates.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience supporting Workday Financials as an administrator or analyst.

  • Deep understanding of core financial processes and controls.

  • Proven experience configuring and maintaining business processes, condition rules, custom reports, and calculated fields.

  • Experience with Workday Financials modules such as General Ledger, AP/AR, Procurement, Banking, and Projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Workday Pro certification in Financial Management or specific financial modules.

  • Experience with Workday integrations using EIB, Workday Studio, or Core Connectors.

  • Knowledge of related systems such as Adaptive Insights, Coupa, or NetSuite is a plus.

  • Experience with enterprise change management, especially in fast-growing or regulated industries.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time remote position with days Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required, as needed.

Occasional travel may be required for this position.
