Telescribe Tuesday: Meet Morgan Bolleter,Every Tuesday in October

This week on Telescribe Tuesday we are very excited to have a conversation with Morgan Bolleter who is the Hiring Manager who oversees the Telescribe Program! Morgan has been with ScribeAmerica since 2019, starting out as a scribe herself! We sat down with Morgan to ask her some questions all about the ScribeAmerica Telescribe program, and this is what she had to say.

Why would a candidate want to work for our Telehealth program?

Working as a scribe is one of the most unique and rewarding experiences, not only for pre-health individuals, but anyone who has ever had an interest in or passion for healthcare. The knowledge that you take with you from this role is unmatched, and that is one of the most valuable aspects of this job. Every patient and every day is a new challenge, and you will never stop surprising yourself with how much you know. An even more extraordinary aspect of being a ScribeAmerica Telescribe though is the relationships that you will build; it is amazing that such strong personal relationships can still be built between scribes, patients, and providers in a virtual setting. You get to be a small part of a person’s best and worst days of their lives, and to be trusted with such personal details about them is truly something special. For me personally, even being out of the scribing game for a couple of years now, I still speak to some of my providers and am asked about by our patients to this day. It’s so special that a role that seems so small, actually plays such a huge part in healthcare. You are remembered not only for the work that you do, but also for being an extra layer of support for everyone that you were able to help along the way.

What do you look for in a potential telescribe candidate?

To be successful as a telescribe, firstly, we hope to see candidates that can be adaptable, resilient, and quick to learn in every situation. Healthcare is a beast of its own filled with some of the most brilliant minds, countless different personalities, and ever-changing information. You have to be able to keep up with the fast-paced environments that you will encounter, as well as have the drive to continuously learn and better yourself in order to keep up. We also search for candidates who portray the utmost respect and professionalism, as these will be two very important characteristics to succeed as a Telescribe. It will be imperative that you maintain your confidence while simultaneously remaining respectful to authority in every situation.

What are the requirements to be a Telescribe?

To qualify to be a Telescribe with ScribeAmerica, you will first and most importantly need to be able to provide a quiet, secluded, and professional work environment as well as a stable and private internet to ensure that private patient information is concealed as a priority at all times. You will also need to have a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute (but the higher, the better!) to ensure that you can be successful in the fast-paced environments that you will encounter as a Telescribe. Availability will also be important to discuss when being considered for this position, as it will be imperative that you can provide consistent and stable availability to optimize the help we provide to our providers.

What is the hiring process like for Telescribe candidates?

To begin the hiring process, you will need to submit an application to the “Remote Telescribe” position on our website. Once you complete this step, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire so that our team can get to know you a little better and determine if this position will be a good fit for you. If you are able to meet our minimum requirements based on your responses, you will be invited to set up a Google video interview with a member of our Telehealth Hiring Team. Once you schedule an interview, our hiring team will reach out to personally confirm your interview and help you prepare for your conversation with them. Next, it’s interview time! Attend the interview dressed professionally, and ready to tell us why you want to be a ScribeAmerica Telescribe. After your interview is complete, you can expect to hear back from our team regarding a decision within 1-2 days.

What are your future career goals?

started out as a scribe with ScribeAmerica during my undergrad at Texas A&M University. I was a pre-med student and I had heard that the experience as a scribe was unmatched, and I was excited about the opportunity to learn directly from providers and gain clinical experience in various specialties. My career path took a different direction after undergrad, and I decided to not pursue medical school (2 MCAT attempts later). I found that my passion still lived in healthcare, but was more so related to administration and the betterment of healthcare, rather than being a provider myself. I am currently working in Hiring and Operations within our ScribeAmerica Telehealth team while pursuing a Masters in Healthcare Administration. It is my goal to continue to learn about healthcare in every way possible and continue to help doctors and healthcare professionals in the future.

What is one thing you have learned since being in the Telehealth department that will help you prepare for your future career goals?

Where do I begin?! I have learned so much in my time at ScribeAmerica and specifically since joining the Telehealth team. As a Telescribe, I learned more resilience, confidence, and equanimity than I ever thought possible for myself. Outside of being a Telescribe, I have had the opportunity to work with some of the most amazing individuals who have truly shaped the professional that I am today. I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by countless women leaders who have helped me build my confidence, professionalism, and overall personal development as both a leader and a woman in the corporate world. These transferable skills are qualities that I will be able to apply to every aspect of my personal and professional life. I feel so incredibly lucky to be one of the few people who absolutely loves their job, the people that I get to work with and the continual growth that I experience.
